Paul Tough of Open Letters says that Modern Maturity (“America’s largest circulation magazine”) has requested permission to reprint an open letter about a wedding, written by a mawkish, sentimental and faintly unfamiliar version of your humble correspondent. Me and my moms will be in Winnebagos and golf club lounges across the land.
Speaking of Open Letters, do have a listen to this most excellent episode of The Connection, in which Paul, Thomas Frank and Joshua Glenn – three editors I hold in the very highest regard, as should you – discuss publishing on the periphery of noisy bullshit, airhead puff, and the impenetrable goo coming out of academia.
