My old friend Leah McLaren – a newspaper columnist with an audience of one – has fallen completely for the funniest and most glaringly obvious web hoax of the past year:

The site cleverly plays on what I call the “what-she-doesn’t-know-won’t-make-her-freak-out” rationale – a favourite among deceptive obsessives the world over. Coincidence Design preys on this sort of grandiose mentality – one that is evidenced most often in men who naively pretend to themselves that in relationships, as in business and sports, the means always justify the end.
