If I may distract you from the sturm und drang and pissing matches for a moment.

Some may recall that awhile back, in a stunning portrayal I call ‘ticked caveman’, I vented twelve years of cumulative frustration with Apple Computer by snapping a G4 Powerbook in two. Not proud of it, but there you go.

It was sent to Germany for repairs in July and, though I love this laptop so (his name is Serge), in the intervening time I was living in fear of its return. Rendering a snapped Powerbook whole again cannot be a cheap enterprise – all that titanium and so on – and I can attest that Apple representatives worldwide will state with confidence and barely-perceptible relish that such damage is not covered by an Applecare warranty, especially one acquired, bohrf, in some duchy called Canada.

The call came at last: Serge was back in town, and would I like to come pick him up. I drove and parked. I stepped up to the counter.

Fully repaired under warranty, no charge, have a nice day.
