Refer 1.05 · 25 October 2002

Based on feedback and some peyote-fuelled epiphanies on the mountainside at dawn, Refer has been updated.

With version 1.05, there are now options in config.php to mask certain referrers by phrase. An example of usefulness: I am no longer curious to know how many are arriving at this site by typing the words fuck me into Google (it is in the hundreds, every day). I have the script filter out all referrers that contain the word fuck, and my Refer page is a marginally politer place to be.

For those displaying visitor addresses on a Refer page, an option now exists to show only the root domain of the visitor’s service provider, rather than the specific details of their address. A bit less Big Brotherish that way, I think.

On the display page, a link to continue viewing older referrers has appeared.

There are now multiple date formats from which to choose.

UPGRADING: those who have installed Refer previously need do nothing more than edit and replace config.php, and replace logfuntions.php with the new versions.

We took delivery on a new refrigerator today. Fancy that!
