Now that Time-Warner is stomping all over children running Harry Potter fansites in a quest to protect its brand, it’s time to remember that they were entertaining if fairly minor, those books. Certainly not worthy of the nonstop, haughty claims of integrity on the part of the author. Now all this hooey about JK Rowling’s alleged plagiarism comes along, but from the wrong camp: Diana Wynne-Jones, whose excellent Chrestomanci series about a boy spirited away from evil stepparents to wizard school, etc., is the one who should sue.
